Insomnia and nausea
This exercise involves dispensing a prescription, whilst taking into consideration patient concerns. There are no errors with this prescription, however the exercise may open a wider discussion about the side effects of a medication and how they are managed.
Even though the patient has presented a prescription for Eliquis and Isoptin, the counselling provided may focus on the patient’s nausea. It is important to emphasise the importance of taking Flagyl with food, as it may help to settle the patient’s nausea. Further, also reiterate the need to abstain from drinking alcohol as the patient may have a severe reaction if alcohol is consumed with taking Flagyl.
