It’s important to give your task a unique Name to help distinguish between tasks within the scenario.

Task names come in handy when you start linking tasks together which we will go into further in the next section.

Since a scenario is a series of tasks you can set triggers to start tasks, you can also use triggers to create tasks that will interrupt the student.

Start – Task will occur at the beginning of the scenario.

Event – Task will be trigger based on an occurrence such actions taken by the student or the start or end of other tasks (this is why it’s handy to give your task a unique name).

You can also adjust the event trigger to happen slightly after the occurrence. For example, if the trigger is the start of another task you can add a delay by entering 1 into the minutes field and thus the new task will occur 1 minute after the original task.

It’s recommended to add a delay just to prevent multiple tasks occur at the exact time.

Time – Task will occur after a set time has elapsed since the scenario has started. To set the time you will need to enter a number of minutes and seconds.

For example, if you want the tasks to start 5 and a half minutes after the scenario has started, enter 5 in the minutes field and 30 into the seconds field.  

End triggers are options that can end the task. Once a task ends the student will no longer have access to that task.

Similar to Start Triggers, end trigger can occur based on an Event. Setting up a Event End Trigger is exactly the same as setting up an Event Start Trigger.

You can give a task a duration by selecting Time.

If the student ignores the task or is too slow in completing the task it can expire and the student will not be able to complete the task.

You can also have multiple end triggers on a task.  

Type
By default, students can postpone tasks, if you set the task to Not Skippable the student will be forced to attend the task immediately.  

Content
Similar to the exercise instruction you should use the interruption content field to give the student context to the upcoming task.

You can set the importance of a task using the dropdown list and choosing from High, Medium or low.

The student won’t be able to see the level of priority for each task and will need to use their own judgement when deciding which tasks should be competed immediately or can be done later.
