Typhoon Nando did not stop the 2025 MyDispense Philippines Symposium
The inaugural MyDispense Philippines Symposium was a great success, despite being disrupted by a typhoon!
Organised by Dr Erwin Faller (Holy Child Central Colleges) and Dr Anthony Marin (St Dominic College), this was the first symposium to involve students as well as educators. It was planned that Over 100 students would be in face-to-face attendance. However, Super Typhoon Nando caused sufficient threat for the government to close on-campus activities. Drs Marin and Faller pivoted expertly to provide Zoom access for our students, who attended virtually.
We covered features of MyDispense version 8 and worked on a localised version for the Philippine region. Students got to practice a number of exercise types and also had the opportunity to present some excellent research projects.
Dr Faller was presented with an award for his outstanding work to promote and support MyDispense in the Philippines. His wonderfully positive energy in fostering collaboration has been the major factor in 16 Philippine institutions taking up MyDispense and more joining the community on a regular basis.
Student and educator feedback was excellent and we have firm plans to make the MyDispense Philippines symposium a regular event.
